ALEXANDER JAMES DOUGLAS BELL, universally known as "Lex", is the Principal of the firm.

He was admitted to practise in 1968 and has extensive experience in most areas of the law, from advocacy to family law, from property law to wills and estates, from tax planning to corporation law.  Lex holds the degree of Master of Laws with Distinction (another term for Honours)  and is admitted to  practise in the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales and in the High Court of Australia.

All of his professional life has been spent on the Gold Coast.  He has lectured law students, has organised legal aid before Governments entered in the field, and recently was given an award as a Distinguished Practitioner by the Gold Coast District Law Association.

In his personal life, Lex Bell has been deeply involved in community service, having founded many not-for-profit community organisations, serving in executive capacities.  For his community work, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal.  He was the founding Chairman of two private schools, has served as the Chancellor of 2 Churches, and for over 30 years has been vice president of a Gold Coast Community Radio Station.

Government appointments he has held have been as a member of Jupiter's Casino Community Benefit Fund, Gold Coast Waterways Authority and Gold Coast Hospital Foundation Board where he was Chairman for 5 years.

Lex also was an elected member of the Gold Coast City Council for a total of 20 years, 6 of them as the City's Mayor and also was elected for one term to the Queensland Parliament as the independent member for Surfers Paradise.
